Prospective Member FAQ:
What should I wear to the interview? Interviews are very casual! No need to dress up. Come in whatever is comfortable for you.
What's the time commitment for members? Monday night meetings are required, and last from 8-9:30 each week (this includes your committee meeting). Other opportunities include retreat, volunteering, and hangouts. You can "pick & choose" things that fit your schedule. We do have a points system to ensure you are actively participating with CHL, but it is nothing to stress about!
What are committees? Is everyone on one? When do I pick my committee? Committees meet every week at 8pm before the general meeting. Committees are an opportunity to have leadership within CHL and get to know members in a smaller setting. Every member is on a committee, and you'll get to pick your committee during the interview.
What should I expect in my interview? After you submit the application, we'll email you to schedule an interview. If you don't get an email from us, please email [email protected]. Everyone who applies gets an interview! Interviews last around 10 minutes. There will be 2 officers, and they won't ask you anything crazy- no need to be nervous!! This is an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to get to know CHL.
I'm not able to attend the Monday night meetings. Can I still join? Because meetings are central to the community and mission of CHL, we ask that you wait to apply during a semester that you would be able to attend meetings.
